The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to search for offensive reinforcements following Mitch Marner’s departure to Vegas, and one potential option is now on their radar.

Although not a top-tier forward, it seems like Toronto has placed its attention on the Carolina Hurricanes’ unrestricted free-agent forward Jack Roslovic.

In Sunday’s episode of the “32 Thoughts” podcast, Elliotte Friedman said he thinks the Leafs are “in on” Roslovic.

Roslovic, 28, just completed a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the Hurricanes and could add speed and playmaking to the right wing, the position vacated by Marner.

“One guy I think the Leafs are in on is Jack Roslovic,” Friedman said. “And it makes sense to me because he has a history with Auston Matthews. They played together at the US National Development Team.

“I can see this connection.”

That said, salary cap space remains a roadblock, and Friedman acknowledged that Toronto may need to move out players like David Kampf or Calle Jarnkrok before  making such a move.

The Leafs have already missed out on top free agent targets like Brock Boeser and Nikolaj Ehlers, but general manager Brad Treliving has confirmed he’s looking to find and acquire multiple players still available to bolster his team while replacing Marner.

“Just not as simple as saying, ‘OK, Mitch has moved on. We go replace Mitch,’” Treliving said. “You kind of got to do that in the aggregate.”

Toronto has $4.9 million in current cap space, while Daily Faceoff projects Roslovic to sign a three-year, $4.1 million contract this offseason.
