The Montreal Canadiens have made some big decisions in recent days. While there have been a few strong acquisitions, the departures have flown a bit more under the radar.

Kent Hughes chose not to retain D-Vo.

For the Canadiens, Dvorak brought stability down the middle, was a well-liked presence in the locker room, and, most notably, was Cole Caufield‘s best friend and roommate.

Following Dvorak’s departure to Philadelphia, Caufield has now posted a heartfelt message on social media.

Cole Caufield finally breaks the silence following the departure of his best friend in recent years, Christian Dvorak

Clearly, Caufield will now need to find a new companion and roommate.

On his personal page, he posted a nice photo of himself with Dvorak, along with the caption:

“Been a fun time Rust.
Thanks for everything fella.
Will miss you.
Enjoy it with Trevor Zegras!”

Indeed, Cole Caufield is still trying to come to terms with losing Dvorak, and it’ll likely feel strange for him to see his two closest friends now playing together for the Philadelphia Flyers.

As a reminder, Christian Dvorak just signed a one-year deal with the Flyers worth $5.4 million.

At that price, would you have liked to see Kent Hughes keep him in Montreal?
