As free agency opened in the NHL, the Flyers only had one order of in-house business remaining. Cam York was the lone restricted free agent to receive a qualifying offer – with Tyson Foerster and Noah Cates already signed – but a deal with more term was anticipated.

The deal is done. York has re-signed with the Flyers on a five-year, $25.75 million deal with a $5.15 million AAV.

York, 24, has played in parts of five seasons for the Flyers. After appearing in three games in 2020-21, York had three goals and 10 points in 30 games in 2021-22. He became more of a lineup regular in 2022-23, scoring two goals and 20 points in 54 games.

York’s first full 82-game season was in 2023-24, where he put up career numbers with 10 goals and 30 points. Last season, in 2024-25, York had just four goals and 17 points in 66 games, dealing with an injury for part of the season.

York’s first three seasons were very consistent in ice time, between 19 and 20 minutes per game. In 2023-24, York saw a substantial increase in average ice time, reaching 22:37. In 2024-25, his ice time was still over 20 minutes, but down to an average of 20:47.

York was the final of the Flyers restricted free agents to re-sign. Foerster signed a two-year deal with a $3.75 million AAV on May 29. Helge Grans signed a two-year deal with a $787,000 cap hit on May 30. Cates signed a four-year deal with a $4 million AAV on June 3.

The Flyers did not extend qualifying offers to RFAs Jakob Pelletier, Zayde Wisdom, or Elliot Desnoyers.

Saturday was the deadline for York to file for arbitration, and Sunday was the deadline for the Flyers to file for arbitration as a club. Neither side did, indicating that a deal could be nearing completion.

York’s contract puts the Flyers over the salary cap by $579,762, according to PuckPedia, however, that includes Ivan Fedotov’s $3.28 million cap hit. Fedotov, currently among three goaltenders on the active roster, is expected to be sent to the minors prior to the start of the season.
