Mason McTavish has been growing solidly at the NHL level, but after frustration has grown with Anaheim, he could shockingly demand a trade from the team. The Anaheim Ducks have assembled a very impressive young core, and with the addition of veterans like Jacob Trouba, Radko Gudas and Chris Kreider over the past 12 months, this is a team that could take a huge leap forward in 2025/26.

Despite posting a career high of 52 points over 76 games a season ago, frustration is mounting with McTavish and the Ducks, with David Pagnotta revealing that there could be a moment this off-season where the 22-year old demands a trade.

imageDespite many locking him in as the 2C after Trevor Zegras‘ departure, clearly something is going on behind the scenes in Anaheim, as several reports have noted that he’s not too happy with his current role.

At 22-years of age with an incredibly bright future ahead of him and already 140 career points under his belt, McTavish would be a very attractive trade piece for teams around the NHL, with the Ducks likely to search for a veteran in return if that’s the way things end up going.

When the Ducks drafted McTavish No. 3 overall back in 2021, hopes were high that he could be a franchise piece, but since then they’ve drafted players that have so far out performed him, and with his role reportedly diminishing, this is a story to keep a very close eye on moving forward.
