The Vancouver Canucks have announced on Tuesday morning that they’ve locked up Belarusian goaltender Nikita Tolopilo to a multi-year contract starting this season.
Over the weekend, some restricted free agents and teams around the National Hockey League had to make a decision on whether or not they would be heading to salary arbitration to determine their next contract.
That’s exactly what happened on Tuesday morning as the Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve signed both Nikita Tolopilo and Jett Woo to new contracts.
Vancouver Canucks sign goaltender Nikita Tolopilo to multi-year contract
In a post on social media this morning, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve agreed to a two-year, two-way deal with goaltending prospect Nikita Tolopilo.
“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with goaltender Nikita Tolopilo on a two-year, two-way contract.” the Canucks said.
According to PuckPedia, Tolopilo’s contract comes with a salary of $775,000 US at the NHL level in both seasons, while in the AHL, he’ll earn $230,000 in the 2025-26 season and $380,000 during the 2026-27 campaign.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin commented on the signing after it was made official and highlighted how hard Nikita Tolopilo has worked to get to this point and that he took a big stride forward in his development this past season.
“Nikita had a good year of development in Abbotsford. He worked hard on his game, and he took a step forward in becoming a better pro. We will continue to work with him to provide the best path forward for both the player and our organization.” Allvin said.
Tolopilo, a native of Minsk, Belarus, appeared in 36 games for the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks this season where he had a record of 20-14-2 along with a 2.66 goals against average, a .902 save percentage and four shutouts.
With the Vancouver Canucks having a bit of a crowded crease at the moment, there there have been rumors about the potential of trading Calder Cup Playoff MVP Arturs Silovs this summer and if that happens, it would open to door to Nikita Tolopilo becoming the full-time starter for the Abbotsford Canucks.
