The Vancouver Canucks reportedly apologized to forward Brock Boeser recently for comments made at the NHL’s trade deadline in March regarding offers they got for him.One week ago, the Vancouver Canucks announced the signing of forward Brock Boeser to a seven-year contract worth $7.25 million annually, something fans and others around the hockey world weren’t expecting at all.

Leading up to the start of the free agency window, many expected Brock Boeser to leave the Vancouver Canucks, the team that drafted him ten years ago, but a last-minute phone call from Patrik Allvin changed everything and now, the 28-year-old is sticking around until the summer of 2032.

With no progress made on a contract extension earlier this year, the expectation was that the Vancouver Canucks were going to deal Brock Boeser ahead of the NHL’s March 7th trade deadline.

When speaking with reporters after the deadline passed, Patrik Allvin made some eye-opening comments about the market for Brock Boeser, saying that the offers just weren’t up to the team’s liking, adding that he would have to “run out of here” if he shared what he was offered by other General Managers.

“If I told you what I was offered for Brock Boeser. I think I would have to run out of here, because you would not believe me.”

“If there wasn’t any market value, I think that’s up to the other teams [and] how they view our players.” Allvin said.

The comments obviously didn’t make Brock Boeser too happy and many were wondering if the relationship would’ve been strained to the point where he’d leave on July 1st, however, it looks like the Canucks apologized to the American forward about what was said.

During a recent appearance on Halford & Brough, NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal shared that the Vancouver Canucks reached out to Brock Boeser to apologize about those comments made at the trade deadline and given that they were able to work out a seven-year deal, it looks like everything will be okay going forward.

Boeser, a native of Burnsville, Minnesota, has been extremely loyal to the Vancouver Canucks during his tenure with the club and it’s great to see that they circled back on him last Tuesday and the two sides were able to work out a long-term extension.

There’s no question that Brock Boeser is one of the most important players on the Canucks’ roster and if they wanted to have any success next season and improve in the goal scoring department, they needed to bring him back.
