The Vancouver Canucks’ offer for the top unrestricted free agent centerman and former first round pick last week was revealed recently by an NHL insider.
Patrik Allvin also made attempts to bring in help through the UFA market last Tuesday, making a strong offer to centerman Christian Dvorak, formerly of the Montreal Canadiens, who ended up signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Flyers which reunites him with Rick Tocchet, who coached the forward in Arizona.Christian Dvorak wasn’t the only free agent that Patrik Allvin targeted last week as he reportedly had his sights on an even bigger name – Mikael Granlund and recently, the team’s offer to the Finnish centerman was revealed by NHL insider David Pagnotta.
Vancouver Canucks’ offer to former first round pick Mikael Granlund has been revealed
In an article on The Fourth Period late last week, NHL insider David Pagnotta revealed that the Vancouver Canucks made an offer to Mikael Granlund that would’ve paid him around $6 million US annually on a four-year deal.
While there’s no doubt it was a competitive offer, the 33-year-old turned it down and decided to sign a three-year deal at $7 million AAV with another Pacific Division team – the Anaheim Ducks.
“The Canucks had targeted Mikael Granlund as their primary option, according to sources, but the club was not willing to meet his contract demands.
It is believed that Vancouver had discussed a four-year deal with Granlund worth around $6 million per season, but Granlund instead signed a three-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks worth $7 million per year.”
With Patrik Allvin losing out on both Christian Dvorak and Mikael Granlund, the Vancouver Canucks may have to stick with their current roster, at least to start the 2025-26 season, as landing a second line centerman isn’t going to be easy this summer.
