It’s a great time to be a fan of the top two sports teams in Washington, D.C.
The Washington Commanders just reached their first conference title game in over 30 years after winning just four games the year prior. The Washington Capitals, meanwhile, are back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the league’s all-time goal-scorer looking for another championship.

The Capitals are a much different team than the Commanders at this point, though. And they have a lesson in consistency that the Burgundy and Gold can learn from their hockey brethren.
The Caps have not won a Stanley Cup Playoff series since they won the final in 2018. Alex Ovechkin has been the face of the organization for over a decade now after passing Wayne Getzky on the all-time goals list.
While Getzky is in the final years of his career, the Capitals are not as old a team as many perceive them to be. 27-year-old center Dylan Strome led the team in scoring while Logan Thompson (also 27 years old) earned their top goalie spot.
Washington is a lot younger than many realize.

The same can’t be said for the Commanders. While Washington does have a young phenom at quarterback in Jayden Daniels, they have the eighth-oldest roster in the sport.
If the Commanders are going to learn anything from the Capitals, it’s that a mix of young talent could do wonders for their championship contention. It has the Caps as a legitimate Stanley Cup title contender.
Either way, the Commanders and Capitals are making D.C. proud.
Now if only the Wizards can figure out a way to turn their misfortune around.
