NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Nashville’s 5-3 win over Las Vegas Tuesday night wasn’t just impressive because it came against the Pacific Division’s top team. It was also the franchise’s 1,000th career win.
The Preds won their first game on October 13, 1998, thanks to a goal from 25-year-old Andrew Brunette. Fast-forward more than 26 years, and Brunette coached the same franchise to its 1,000th win.
Nashville also reached the milestone in near record time. The Predators played 2,020 games, just two more than the Philadelphia Flyers, who hold the record.
“To have the second-fastest to 1,000 wins, that is something we should be very proud of,” former General Manager David Poile said. “That obviously talks about consistency, winning, being competitive. I like that stat.”
The Predators look to notch win number 1,001 Thursday night as the Chicago Blackhawks visit Bridgestone Arena.
