The NHL won’t return to action until October. However, there is still hockey, even in the dog days of summer– the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase is right around the corner. On Wednesday, Team USA named 42 roster players, including Vegas Golden Knights prospect Trevor Connelly.

The Golden Knights selected Connelly 19th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old left-shot forward from Tustin, California, is the best prospect in the Golden Knights’ pipeline. He’s extremely gifted with the puck and possesses the uncanny ability to make things happen. He’s a smooth-skating playmaker with great vision.

Connelly spent most of the 2024-25 season with the Providence Friars, where he recorded four goals and nine assists in 23 games. His collegiate career ended on the road to the Frozen Four when the Denver Pioneers eliminated the Friars from the 2025 NCAA Hockey Tournament.

After signing his Entry-Level Contract, Connelly finished the season with the Henderson Silver Knights. There, he scored his first pro goal and provided three assists in six games. He’ll start the 2025-26 season with the Silver Knights.

The speedy winger is no stranger to repping the red, white, and blue. Connelly represented Team USA twice internationally, first in 2024 and then in 2025.

He was top-ten in scoring in the 2024 IIHF World U18 Championships (4-5-9 in seven GP). However, Team USA fell to Team Canada in the gold medal game. In 2025, he took home gold with Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championships, recording a goal and three assists in seven games.

Connelly is one of five players representing the state of California, along with EJ Emery, Tanner Henricks, Ben Kevan, and Aidan Park. Only Minnesota claims more players on the Team USA roster for the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase, with 14.
