Among the recent acquisitions made by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens in recent days, one has flown under the radar.
Some experts even suggested that the addition of Kahkonen could push young Jakub Dobes down to the role of the Canadiens’ third goaltender.
Knowing all this, is Dobes disappointed to see that Hughes signed a goalie who could potentially bump him out of Montreal? Not at all!
The young netminder has an outstanding attitude!
Jakub Dobes sends a clear message to Kent Hughes and Canadiens management: he wants to stay in Montreal as long as possible!
Ideally, he’d even like to spend his entire career with the Canadiens!
“The contract length is perfect.
I want to stay in Montreal as long as possible.
I love playing and living in Montreal,” said the 23-year-old athlete Monday in an interview with BPM Sports.”

One thing’s certain-he’s not afraid of competition and he’s ready for the challenge!
[Dobes] hopes to once again form a tandem with Quebecer Samuel Montembeault, a “fantastic teammate and friend” who “had an excellent season last year.”
“Sam is great. We talked yesterday-he congratulated me [on the contract],” he revealed.
Dobes also views the signing of goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen in free agency positively, even if Kahkonen will likely be in direct competition with him.
