We already have an injury to report within the Montreal Canadiens organization, and it will impact the 2025-2026 season. Defenseman William Trudeau, who nearly cracked the Canadiens’ lineup last year, is a key player for the Laval Rocket and had the potential to be a surprise addition to the Habs’ blue line this fall-but he is injured.

A Serious Injury for William Trudeau of the Montreal Canadiens

We’re talking about a very serious injury here-serious enough that it’s already been confirmed he’ll miss the start of next season. Ouch.

It unfortunately brings back memories of what happened with Rafaël Harvey-Pinard, especially since Trudeau has a real shot at becoming a full-time NHL defenseman.

This injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for him, and it’s now clear his NHL debut won’t be happening this fall.

“Trudeau suffered a torn pectoral muscle.”

William Trudeau, 22 years old, was a fourth-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021 (113th overall) and recorded 19 points in 68 games with the Laval Rocket during the 2024-2025 season, while posting a solid +14 rating.

Especially following the departure of Logan Mailloux, Trudeau had become a serious option for the Canadiens and Martin St-Louis’ roster.

Let’s hope he makes a full recovery and returns to action as soon as possible.
