Vegas Golden Knights Star Emerges as Top Trade Target for Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks

A former first round pick and six-time 20+ goal scorer has been suggested as a potential trade target for Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks this summer.

As the offseason rolls on, the Vancouver Canucks’ search for a legit second line centerman continues and while there’s no guarantee they’ll be able to add one between now and opening night in October, the club will continue to evaluate their options throughout the summer.

With the free agent market for centermen quite thin, Patrik Allvin will have to turn his attention to the trade market if he wants to land a 2C to play behind Elias Pettersson next season.

Former first round pick emerges as potential option for Vancouver Canucks

In an article for Canucks Army recently, Stephan Roget shared a handful of names that the Vancouver Canucks could target for their second line center role, some of whom could be easily attained, while other could come at a steep cost.

One named that Roget mentions is Tomas Hertl of the Vegas Golden Knights, who is coming off the second 30+ goal season of his career in the NHL, but the team’s cap situation, the Czech centerman could be expendable.The Golden Knights made a splash this summer by acquiring Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs and subsequently locked him up to a long-term extension for eight years and while the team will have a tiny bit of cap room after they place Alex Pietrangelo on LTIR, they may have to move money if they want to make another addition closer to the trade deadline.

“Given the Golden Knights’ preference for in-season tinkering, this seems unlikely, and so someone else will probably move. If it’s Hertl, however, it would have to basically be by his choice – he’s got a preposterous 29-team NTC, meaning he gets to pick out just three choice destinations and that’s that.” Roget said.

Not only would it be difficult for the Vancouver Canucks to add Tomas Hertl to their roster given his 29-team no-trade clause, it’ll be even tougher considering his $8,137,500 salary for the next five seasons.

If Patrik Allvin were to attempt to work out a deal for the Prague native, much like Vegas, he’ll also need to move out some money as he only has $795,000 US in cap space, with players like Teddy Blueger, Dakota Joshua and Nils Hoglander being mentioned in rumors lately.
