Two National Hockey League teams looking to put together some wines will meet on Wednesday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The Penguins (6-9-2, in the Metropolitan Division) will host the Detroit Red Wings (6-7-1, in the Atlantic Division) in a game that starts at 7:30 p.m. ET. You can watch it on ESPN+ (introductory discount), Max (discount) and truTV, which you can live stream on Sling TV (discount) and DirecTV Stream (FREE trial and discount).

The Penguins are coming off an embarrassing 7-1 home loss to the Dallas Stars on Monday night.

The Stars scored six first-period goals for the second time in franchise history, and the first since March 1971 when they were the Minnesota North Stars.

Pittsburgh has lost three of four and nine of 12 overall. The Penguins were coming off one of their strongest performances of the season, a 4-2 win against Washington. But they looked lost at times defensively against Dallas, similar to a 5-1 loss at Carolina last Wednesday.

Anthony Beauvillier scored his fourth goal for Pittsburgh.

Joel Blomqvist allowed three goals on eight shots and was replaced for the first time in eight NHL starts. Alex Nedeljkovic, who gave up goals on the first two shots he faced, made 26 saves.

They followed up the loss by sending veteran center Lars Eller to Washington for a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick. The 35-year-old Eller had four goals and three assists in 17 games with Pittsburgh. He was in the second season of a two-year deal he signed with the Penguins in the summer of 2023.

The move could be the first of several for Pittsburgh, which began Wednesday just two points clear of the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Detroit is also coming off a loss, 4-0, to the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

Ville Husso had 20 saves for Detroit in his first appearance since opening night. The Red Wings have lost two straight and five of seven (2-4-1).

They enter play tonight 3-3-0 on the road, where they will play their next four games.
