We recently mentioned it, but the excellent Marco D’Amico appeared on the podcast Poolcast and talked about the Montreal Canadiens and Sidney Crosby. Other topics were discussed as well, including the Jordan Kyrou situation, but let’s focus on the segment about #87.
D’Amico, who is an insider with privileged sources, went quite far with this topic.
He specifically named the three teams he believes would have a chance to land Sidney Crosby if he ever decided to move on from Pittsburgh: Montreal, Colorado, and possibly Los Angeles.
We can forget the idea of trading Cole Caufield for Sidney Crosby
Here’s what the insider had to say on the topic:
“If this happens, stop talking about Caufield and two first-round picks and all that [in exchange for Crosby]. He has a no-movement clause.
He’s the one who’ll decide where he goes, and Dubas (the Pittsburgh Penguins GM) will ask for things, but no one’s going to give up a top player for Crosby for a year and a half or a year.
Even giving up multiple first-round picks – I’d be surprised!”

He later adds that, in terms of price, he expects something like a package with picks and prospects, but nothing too major.
They even draw a parallel with the Raymond Bourque trade.
It’s definitely a situation to keep an eye on!
