A former Vancouver Canucks forward who has spent the last eight years in Europe will be remaining in the continent for at least another season after finding a new team.
As players across the globe continue to evaluate their options for the upcoming season, we’ve seen a number of former Vancouver Canucks decide to either head overseas to Europe or find a new home for the 2025-26 campaign.
After a strong 2024-25 season which he split between Russia and Switzerland, it looks like another former Vancouver Canucks will be playing in Europe once again this fall.
Former Vancouver Canucks finds new team in Europe for 2025-26 season
In a press release this month, the Vienna Capitals, who play in the ICE Hockey League, which is comprised of teams from Austria, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia, announced that they’ve agreed to terms on a two-year contract with former Vancouver Canucks forward Linden Vey.

Vey, a native of Wakaw, Saskatchewan, registered 19 points in 20 games last season with KHL club Avangard Omsk, along with 22 points in 31 games with HC Fribourg-Gotteron in Switzerland, the latter of whom he won the 2024 Spengler Cup with back in December.
“My wife and I were looking for the best place to raise our family and for me to continue playing hockey at a high level. After our discussions with the Capitals’ management, it quickly became clear to us that Vienna was the ideal place to continue my career. I’m a center who takes control of the game and consistently delivers in every game situation. I’m looking forward to my time with the Vienna Capitals and will strive to set the best example for the organization every day.” Vey said.
During his time in North America, the 33-year-old Vey made 138 appearances in the National Hockey League with the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames, with 39 of his 44 career points coming with the British Columbia club.
Vey’s first game with the Vienna Capitals could come in less than four weeks as the team opens their preseason slate on August 16th against Hydro Fehervar AV19.
