The Vancouver Canucks have officially traded their top goaltending prospect Arturs Silovs to an Eastern Conference team on Sunday afternoon.Because of this, it led to it led to trade rumors regarding the team’s top goaltending prospect, Arturs Silovs, who was named Calder Cup Playoff MVP last month and on Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks officially moved on from the 24-year-old.

In a press release on their website on Sunday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve traded Arturs Silovs to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
“Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has acquired forward Chase Stillman and a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for goaltender Arturs Silovs.” the club said.
General Manager Patrik Allvin released a statement shortly after the news was made official, thanking Arturs Silovs for all he did for the organization during his tenure with them, including leading them Abbotsford to their first-ever Calder Cup.
“We would like thank Arturs for everything he has done for the hockey club, including helping Abbotsford win the Calder Cup. We wanted to give him an opportunity elsewhere as we feel we are very well positioned in goal at the NHL, AHL and developmental level. Acquiring a future pick and depth forward will add to our organizational depth.” Allvin said.
Silovs, a native of Riga, Latvia, appeared in 19 regular season games with the Vancouver Canucks where he had a record of 8-8-2 along with a 3.13 goals against average and an .880 save percentage.
In the spring of 2024, Silovs stepped up in a big way for the Canucks, with injuries to Thatcher Demko and Casey DeSmith, helping them reach Game 7 of the second round and coming within one win of making it to the Western Conference Final.
As mentioned, Silovs led Abbotsford to their first-ever Calder Cup this spring, recording a .931 save percentage and five shutouts in 24 games.
Silovs will now have a big opportunity in front of him with a retooling Pittsburgh Penguins squad and could have a chance at making their opening night roster in October.
