A new player has officially joined the Montreal Canadiens organization. Just moments ago, the Habs’ AHL affiliate announced the signing of right-handed defenceman Charles Martin.
He will certainly help fill some of the organizational departures on the blueline, including those of Logan Mailloux, Noel Hoefenmayer, and Gustav Lindstrom.Rocket agree to terms on a one-year, two-way AHL contract with defenseman Charles Martin

This is indeed a one-year, two-way contract for defenceman Martin within the Canadiens’ organization.
Charles Martin Joins the Montreal Canadiens Organization
We’d like to welcome him and are looking forward to seeing him at training camp this fall.
Martin, 27 years old, is a right-handed defenceman standing 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He plays a physical game and isn’t afraid to throw solid hits.
Originally from Blainville, Quebec, he played for the Calgary Wranglers (the Flames’ AHL affiliate) last season in the American Hockey League and also collected 21 points in 40 games with the Rapid City Rush.
It’s a great story, as Charles Martin was playing for the St-Jérôme Panthers in the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League back in 2017-2018.
He’s worked hard to reach the AHL as a professional hockey player, and it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for him here.
One thing’s for sure, there will definitely be roster spots up for grabs with the Laval Rocket, especially on defence, as Pascal Vincent will have to replace several players.
