The Western Conference first-round series between the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues went down to the wire and not only needed a Game 7 to decide the outcome, but even two overtimes.
Not only did the Jets and the Blues provide drama, but the matchup also offered something the NHL hadn’t seen in more than two decades: a pair of brothers facing each other in a Game 7.

Jets defenseman Luke Schenn and Blues captain Brayden Schenn became the first siblings to go head-to-head in a Game 7 since Rob and Scott Niedermayer in 2003.
The NHL acknowledged the milestone on X.
“The last time two brothers played each other in a #Game7 of the #StanleyCup Playoffs was Scott and Rob Niedermayer in 2003,” the league wrote. “The Schenn brothers make a little history tonight. 💪”
Before puck drop on Sunday, the intensity and competitiveness of the brothers were already on display earlier in the series.
Brayden and Luke were spotted exchanging words during Game 6, following a heated moment in the third period of the Blues’ 5-2 win that forced the series-deciding Game 7.

“Just brotherly love. We’re just competing. That’s what we do,” Brayden Schenn said before Game 7. “I love Luke, and he’d say the same thing about me.
”It’s just the game, and at the end of the day, we’re competing for our teams for the Stanley Cup.”

The seventh game delivered, as Winnipeg erased a 3-1 deficit in the final two minutes, with Cole Perfetti tying the game with just three seconds left.
Already four minutes into the second overtime, Jets captain Adam Lowry’s game winner sent the Jets to the second round and ended the Blues’ season.
The Jets will face the Dallas Stars after they defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 in Game 7 on Saturday. Game 1 of the Stars-Jets series is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, with puck-drop at 9:30 p.m. ET in Winnipeg.
