The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue today as round 2 gets underway with the Toronto Maple Leafs playing host to the Florida Panthers. Round 1 of the payoffs came to a thrilling end as the Winnipeg Jets overcame a stiff resistance from the St. Louis Blues, clinching the series 4-3 after earning the victory in the second period of overtime as Adam Lowry’s deflected shot found the back of the net.

As for the other results in the playoff bracket, the Dallas Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 in game seven to clinch their place in the second round. The Vegas Golden Knights and the Edmonton Oilers have also moved on to the second round, as both teams took 6 games to go through. The Kings defeated the Minnesota Wild, whereas the Oilers took care of the Los Angeles Kings for the fourth year in a row. 

Over in the Eastern conference, the one-seed Maple Leafs were 4-2 series winners over the Ottawa Senators, while the Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals, and the Carolina Hurricanes all progressed in 5 games. The Panthers got past the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Capitals defeated the Montreal Canadiens, and the Hurricanes took care of the New Jersey Devils. 

NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs – Round 2 Matchups 

With the Jets earning the final spot in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Winnipeg now takes on the Dallas Stars in the top half of the bracket. In the bottom half, we now have the Vegas Golden Knights against the Edmonton Oilers.

On the other side of the bracket, the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Florida Panthers, while the Washington Capitals lock horns with the Carolina Hurricanes to round off the final 8 teams remaining in the hunt for the Stanley Cup.
