A death has indeed struck the extended Montreal Canadiens family, as a former goaltender of the team has passed away.
As announced by the San Jose Sharks and TVA Sports, Wayne Thomas has passed away.

Former Montreal Canadiens Goalie Wayne Thomas Passes Away Under Sad Circumstances
Wayne Thomas, born in September 1947, was a 6-foot-1, 205-pound goaltender.
He played 243 career games in the National Hockey League, recording 103 wins, 93 losses, and 34 overtime losses, with a goals-against average of 3.34 and a save percentage of .891.
He began his career with the Montreal Canadiens and notably played alongside greats like Yvan Cournoyer, Jacques Lemaire, Guy Lafleur, Henri Richard, and many more.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Thomas family, his loved ones, as well as to the Montreal Canadiens and San Jose Sharks organizations.
Thomas also served as a coach in the NHL for over 12 seasons.
