The Nashville Predators will find out their fate for.the No. 1 overall pick when the NHL Draft lottery takes place on May 5.
Nashville has the third-best odds (11.5%) to earn the top pick and can pick anywhere across the top five pending the draft lottery results.
No matter what happens on May 5, the Predators will pick in the top five for the first time since 2013.
Canadian defenseman Matthew Schaefer is considered the consensus top prospect in the 2025 draft class, though it’s not as clear as recent seasons like Macklin Celebrini last year and Connor Bedard in 2023.
That being said, with Schaefer and Canadian center Michael Misa atop most rankings, Nashville could add a real centerpiece on June 27.
