Amid all of the news that is swirling around the NHL due to the star of free agency, the Vancouver Canucks have unexpectedly placed a fan favorite power forward on the trade block, and you can bet fans are not happy about it.

But, amid all of the craziness that comes with free agency, the Canucks decided that they are going to need a lot more help upfront and have made it known to other teams that they have made Dakota Joshua available if teams want to negotiate.
«I really am hearing the Canucks are souring on Dakota Joshua for some odd reason,» Dhaliwal said. «His name is out there.»
The report first came when they Canucks were trying to find a way to re-sign breakout star Pius Suter, in which they needed to make cap space by moving Dakota Joshua or Teddy Blueger.Unfortunately, Suter signed with the St. Louis Blues soon after the report came to the surface.
«They called [Suter’s] agent yesterday, and they told him they are still interested, the door is still open. They’ve gotta move either Joshua or Blueger to get back in on Suter. Suter is going to sign today or tomorrow.»
Regardless if Suter is now gone, Vancouver has now opened the door on trading Joshua, which is never good for moral, and after an impressive 18 goal, 32 point season in 2023-24, he has a lot of what NHL clubs want in a power forward.
His numbers did drop significantly in his first season following his extension, but he was coming off cancer surgery int the offseason and missed all of training camp.
Although fans may not be happy about the news, the Canucks do need help upfront, and if they have to move on from Joshua, then so be it.
