The Detroit Red Wings have found new life under a new coach.

They won their fourth game in a row on Saturday by defeating the league-leading Winnipeg Jets 4-2 at Canada Life Centre.

The Red Wings are 4-1-0 under Todd McLellan. This is their longest winning streak since a six-game run from Feb. 17-27 last season.

Detroit (17-18-4) suddenly is only two points out of the final wild card playoff spot.

The Red Wings’ best players were their best players on this night. Dylan Larkin scored a pair of goals and sealed the outcome with an empty-net tally with 29 seconds remaining. Lucas Raymond had a goal and an assist. Alex DeBrincat scored a goal. Moritz Seider and Patrick Kane provided two assists each.

Alex Lyon made 21 saves for his third consecutive win and the Red Wings improved to 17-18-4.

Detroit scored twice on the power play, which has gone 8 for 16 in five games under McLellan. The Jets

The Red Wings start a four-game homestand Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).

Leading by one, Brincat gave his team some breathing room with his 17th goal at 7:14 of the third period. DeBrincat forced Alex Iafallo to turn over the puck in the Jets’ zone and then quickly converted a pass from Kane.

It proved to be the winning goal after Nicolaj Ehlers scored with 3:14 to play to cut Winnipeg’s deficit.

The Jets (27-12-2) are winless in three (0-2-1) and their NHL-leading power play went 0 for 2. They had defeated the Red Wings in their four previous meetings.

Raymond scored his 16th goal, his team’s second of the night on the power play, at 4:33 of the second to make it 2-0. He unleashed a one-timed slapshot from the left flank on a pass from Seider.

The Jets answered quickly as Josh Morissey also blasted in a one-timed slap shot, this one from the point through Lyon’s five-hole, at 5:48.

The Red Wings led 1-0 after the first period on Larkin’s first goal. He finished off some good puck movement in the zone and a seam pass from Raymond by beating Connor Hellebuyck with a snap shot from the circle. Larkin has 16 goals, including four in the past three games after going 15 games without a goal.
