Here are the Montreal Canadiens news items, stories, and content you may have missed on Tuesday.
Editor’s Note: I would like to thank everyone for their patience in the last few days. It’s slaughtering time at the farm, which means most of my days are spent with the animals that will sustain my friends and I for the next year or so. I’ll be heading to the lake to spend some time fishing with my godson at the end of the week, but we’ll be back to our regular scheduled programming by Monday.
On that note, I would like to thank Habs On Reddit for their excellent work, a familiar sight for anyone who peruses our daily links. I strongly suggest joining the Habs Reddit community, as well as following their account on Twitter.
Montreal Canadiens News
Even though we’re in the dog days of summer, several Montreal Canadiens players are keeping busy, including Nick Suzuki and Patrik Laine, who were busy practicing one-timers. Even though he missed a significant portion of the season, Laine scored more goals from his sweet spot than any other NHL player last season, and it’s fair to suggest the Habs would have missed the playoffs without his one-timer excellence on the powerplay.

As for Cole Caufield, he’s keeping busy with Dylan Larkin and Co., and for once, he wasn’t the shortest player on the ice!

It’s always fun to watch freshly drafted prospect L.J. Mooney in action, even if it’s during a 3v3 game of shinny.

Look, we can’t guarantee Ivan Demidov will score a bevy of great goals next year, but I wouldn’t bet against it.

ICYMI: The Montreal Canadiens 2025 Prospect Rankings are underway, but before we get going with the honourable mentions, as well as the in-depth articles for every prospect in the top-20, we’ll examine the important players who are no longer eligible for the project, either due to their age, results, or a change in employers, including Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux. There are six right-handed defencemen on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster, or who otherwise have hopes of playing on NHL ice this season. Coach Dan Muse has not yet begun to sort the gaggle of righties, but gave newly acquired Connor Clifton some direct advice. [Pittsburgh Penguins]
Hockey Canada officially announced the assistants for head coach Jon Cooper’s staff on Monday, and they’ll be rolling with the same group that led Team Canada to the 4 Nations Face-Off championship last February. [Colorado Avalanche]
Montreal Canadiens centre Joe Veleno isn’t out there trying to sugarcoat things. He’s not seeking to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. You saw it. He knows it. His last season with the Red Wings certainly wasn’t up to snuff. [Detroit Red Wings]
