We’re in the middle of the dead time of the NHL offseason, but there is some chatter that the Chicago Blackhawks are still looking to make a move or two before training camp. A pair of Blackhawks blueliners scored “Beauty” goals last night. Meanwhile, a pair of Central Division rivals still have decisions to make regarding top goal scorers.

Blackhawks Chirps

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that teams have been calling about Lukas Reichel, and the Blackhawks are listening to offers. According to his report, the Blackhawks are “looking to package assets for immediate upgrades.” Pagnotta is far from my favorite source. He usually likes to make vague and obvious reports that give him plenty of wiggle room if and when they don’t come to fruition. However, it’s late July, and there is likely some truth to this report that teams are kicking the tires on Reichel. The part about looking for immediate upgrades falls under that obvious category. Everybody knows that.

I was on the CHGO Blackhawks podcast yesterday, where Mario Tirabasi and I discussed Wyatt Kaiser and how the Blackhawks’ defensive group might look this season.

Speaking of Kaiser, he scored in Da Beauty League Wednesday night.

He wasn’t the only Blackhawks defenseman to score, as Sam Rinzel found the back of the net, too.

If you’re a big pro wrestling fan, Big Dave and I talked to former Blackhawks forward Brendan Perlini about his love of pro wrestling and hanging out with CM Punk. Perlini is a great storyteller and has got the social media thing down! Check out his Instagram and YouTube channel for some great hockey and golf tales.

Among the various topics Frank Servalli of Bleacher Reporter tackled this week, he pegged Kyle Connor’s next contract somewhere between $11 and $12 million. Getting this contract done is obviously a huge priority for the Winnipeg Jets. Blackhawks fans should hope negotiations go sour so he hits either the trade or free agency market.

It remains undetermined whether the Dallas Stars will trade forward Jason Robertson or sign him to a long-term contract. Everyone has been lining up to predict what teams could pull off a trade for the young goalscorer. If the Stars want numerous young assets and draft picks to keep their contention window open longer, then the Blackhawks should be a player. Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now writes why the Red Wings make sense as a possible trade destination.

Daniel Sprong is the latest former NHL player to head to Europe, as he has signed with CSKA in the KHL. The 28-year-old winger has 87 goals and 166 points in 374 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Washington Capitals, Seattle Kraken, Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, and New Jersey Devils.

Former NHL and Chicago Wolves goaltender Maxime Lagace is joining the Graz 99ers of Austria’s ICEHL. The 32-year-old netminder hasn’t played in the NHL since the 2021-22 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
