Concerning Lane Hutson Development Emerges Before Canadiens’ Season Even Begins

There’s starting to be some concern surrounding the Lane Hutson situation, particularly regarding his much-anticipated contract extension.

While many experts expected the young Hutson to sign his extension as early as July 1-or at the very least, in the days that followed-there’s still nothing as we approach August.

It’s far from a disaster, but it’s enough to raise some eyebrows and stir up concern.

At this point, there’s no real reason to believe Hutson’s next contract will become a serious issue, but it’s fair to wonder why he hasn’t received the same treatment as Juraj Slafkovsky and several others.

The Lane Hutson situation is starting to make waves

It’s fascinating that, even before the Montreal Canadiens’ season begins, this is already becoming a talking point.

I don’t necessarily believe Hutson feels overlooked by the Canadiens for not getting an early contract like Juraj Slafkovsky, but still-it’s something some are bringing up.

“But even so, it remains logical that there’s a certain level of concern in the air.

And on this topic, in his Sick Podcast yesterday, Tony Marinaro said something quite interesting:

‘The last thing you want is to mess with a star’s emotions.'”

I don’t believe the Canadiens are toying with Lane Hutson’s emotions, but these situations are always complex.

“When you have a player of that caliber, you’re better off not insulting him in negotiations and making sure the relationship stays strong.”

I don’t think that’s the case here, but I also believe it would be wise to get this settled before the season starts-to avoid it becoming a distraction or a source of stress for young Hutson.
