Mario Ferraro has long been a trade candidate out of San Jose, and now The Fourth Period have revealed he is open to a move at some point in the near future.

One intriguing piece that could be around for the future or traded now is 26-year old Mario Ferraro who has been with the team since 2019, but now, it appears he may be leaning towards the latter.

According to The Fourth Period, Ferraro hasn’t yet officially requested a trade, but with his prime potentially being wasted away on a rebuilding team, he’s become open to a potential change of scenery.

“He hasn’t asked for a trade, but he would be open to a change of scenery”

Over the six years he’s spent in the NHL, Ferraro has tallied 17 goals and 91 points in 407 games played, and while he’s not taken the leap to being a fantastic defenseman, he has been very solid, and if the Sharks were a little further along in their rebuild, he’d no doubt be a key piece of their lineup.

Ultimately though, given that the team are still a few years away, if they can get a solid young piece or a draft pick in exchange for a 26-year old just entering his prime, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mike Grier pull the trigger on a deal before the 2026 trade deadline.
