One Toronto Maple Leafs veteran forward’s future with the franchise remains uncertain as the team reportedly explores trade options throughout the offseason.

NHL insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period recently listed Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok as the No. 8 player in the site’s “Summer Trade Watch,” as general manager Brad Treliving attempts to shed salary and clear roster space.

The 33-year-old forward is entering the final season of a four-year, $8.4 million deal and saw his role in Toronto significantly diminished last season.

Jarnkrok appeared in just 19 games due to injury — a drop-off from the 52 games he logged the year prior — and only had one goal and seven total points.

“As the Leafs try to shed salary and create roster space for other moves, Jarnkrok joins Kampf and Robertson on the Summer Trade Watch List,” Pagnotta wrote. “He has a $2.1M cap hit and owns a 10-team no-trade list. The market hasn’t been vibrant, to this point, but the Leafs will continue to dangle him.”

Since joining the Leafs ahead of the 2022-23 season, Jarnkrok has recorded 67 points in 144 regular-season games, including a 20-goal campaign in his first year in Toronto.

Under new head coach Craig Berube, Jarnkrok has struggled to find consistent usage, thus the possible trade this offseason.

According to Pagnotta, Jarnkrok hasn’t requested a trade but “would likely not object to one given the circumstances.”

Even if that’s the case, Toronto will face limited leverage in trade talks with Jarnkrok’s rights to block a move to 10 of the other 31 NHL teams.
