Now, with the 2026 Winter Olympics on the horizon, Capitals teammate Dylan Strome is going public with his support following Wilson’s comments about his hopes for a call-up for the international tournament.
“He’ll beat you any way you want,” Strome told NHL.com. “He’s intimidating out there, sure, but he doesn’t get enough credit for his offensive skills.
“I watch him on a nightly basis and he’s the complete package, which is why I think he should be on that team.”

Wilson, 31, is coming off one of his most productive NHL seasons, scoring 33 goals and adding 32 assists while racking up 100 penalty minutes across 81 regular-season games.
At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Wilson’s size and physicality are vital to his game, but not his calling card.
Wilson considers himself more than a plain enforcer and believes his development as a scorer also makes him a legitimate candidate for international play.

“Confidence is a big thing in our world, and seeing pucks go into the net definitely helps in that regard,” Wilson said. “Obviously, it’s a dream your whole life to be mentioned in that type of realm of the guys with that type of pedigree.

“I’m just going to try and play as well as I can up until the final team is announced and put my name in the hat.”
Team Canada has already confirmed six names for its 2026 Olympic roster, including Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Sam Reinhart and Brayden Point.
The tournament will take place in Italy between Feb. 11-22, 2026, with the gold medal game set for the latter date.
