We have a new development regarding the potential acquisition of Nazem Kadri by the Montreal Canadiens – and it looks like things are getting serious.Let’s not forget, we’re talking about a 70-point centerman here, someone who could absolutely be a strong line-mate for Ivan Demidov and Martin St-Louis’ second line.

Well, it now looks like we can probably cross the Toronto Maple Leafs off that (very short) list.

The Calgary Flames reportedly refuse to make a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs and former Flames GM Brad Treliving

Let’s remember that Treliving was the Flames’ general manager before recently taking over in Toronto.

Nick Kypreos: Brad Treliving has tried numerous times to trade with his old club [Calgary] in the past only to be shut down on Tanev, Zadorov and Andersson; “it may be a stretch for the Leafs to land Kadri”

That changes quite a bit!

There would be just one team left on that list.

Personally, I believe that until Michael Hage arrives, Nazem Kadri could be a very solid short-term option on the trade market – at the right price, of course.

Nazem Kadri, 34, is a 6-foot, 185-pound center who was drafted 7th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009.

He’s racked up 710 points in 985 career NHL games, including 307 goals, and he’s posted 67 and 75 points over the last two seasons (playing 82 games in both).

He also produced at a 100-point pace (per 82 games) in 2022.
