Penn State men’s hockey defenseman Jimmy Dowd Jr. signed with the Adirondack Thunder, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Adirondack Thunder are ECHL affiliates for the New Jersey Devils, located in Glens Falls, New York.
Dowd spent five years as a Nittany Lion, finishing his career tied for the most assists by a defenseman in program history. During his collegiate career, he had 12 goals and 61 assists.
He appeared in two NCAA tournaments during his time as a Nittany Lion, including the trip to St. Louis for the 2025 Frozen Four.
Dowd will join his father, Jim Dowd, as a member of the Devils organization. Dowd Sr. played for the New Jersey Devils from 1991 to 1996, winning the 1995 Stanley Cup with the team.
