RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — Raleigh has more insight into the renovations at the Lenovo Center. With the ending of the hockey season and college basketball yet to tip off, work is underway for the first phase to renovate the 25-year-old building. The renovations are funded by public money, so there is an urgency to ensure everything is done and up to speed by the fall.
Renovations include six new luxury bunker suites behind the south end, a new view bar, and a marketplace on the 300 level, which is getting a full refresh. With these updates, Lenovo Center leaders say the trend is to have more “networking” spaces for ticket holders, and areas to socialize and still see a concert or game.
The 300 level of the Lenovo Center will have a new “state-of-the-art view bar,” replacing seating sections 317-319.

“We think this is actually getting us up to a place that’s certainly going to be unique to North Carolina. It’s a tried and true new amenity in these arenas,” said Centennial Authority Chairman Philip Isley.
“We want to make sure that anyone that comes to this building, whether it’s a concert and how they move in, or the general fan or those people that are part of the premium, are having an enhanced experience,” said NC State McMurray Family Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan.
Executives say the building was well-made, which has made this renovation project much easier. The second phase of the renovation will start in early spring. Those renovations will include added seating to the lower level, changes to the 100 level and suites, new entrances, and new elevators and escalators.
The external construction will not start until sometime after NC State completes its football season at Carter-Finley Stadium next door. ABC11 was told there is coordination between the internal and external to make sure everything lines up.
