DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – The Hermantown native and former UMD player, Dylan Samberg, is locked in with the Winnipeg Jets for the next three seasons.
This comes after he signed a big extension with the club Wednesday.
The Jets’ key blueliner inked a three-year $5.75 million per year deal. That equals $17.25 million over the three-year period.
The 26-year-old is coming off a season where he set single-season highs in both goals and points for the Jets.
He had 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 60 regular-season games last season to help the Jets (56-22-4) win the Presidents’ Trophy, and three assists in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Samberg missed 21 games with a lower-body injury sustained after blocking a shot from Steven Stamkos in the second period of a 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Nov. 23.
Samberg was a second-round pick by the Jets in 2017 and was one of four former Bulldogs playing for Winnipeg
Hermantown Neal Pionk, Two Harbors Cole Koepke and Alex Iafallo round out the ‘Winnipeg Bulldogs’ out in Canada.
