The Colorado Avalanche are reportedly reviving the Blue Nordiques jerseys. That is pretty special. Beyond that, the New Jersey Devils are expected to be bringing the black “Jersey” jerseys back as well.

So what? Why care? Well, cool uniforms rock, and are worth talking about.

The Philadelphia Flyers have several slick sweaters from the past. Is there anything you want to see revived? I know I have my opinions. For me, the reverse retros were some of my favorites. The thing missing from both? A black base.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the Flyers’ current black jersey. To me, they’re good, not great.

You know which black jerseys were spectacular? The Eric Lindros, Peter Forsberg, even Rick Tocchet, if you will, era black jersey.

If I could bring back any Flyers jersey, it would be those. In my mind, it’s an absolute need.

The Flyers currently have three uniforms in rotation: home orange, away white, and the alternate black. Adrian Dater reported that the Avs will be reviving their Nordiques reverse retro with a blue version.

That got me thinking, what if the Flyers revived their reverse retro?

The Vision

Philadelphia Flyers, Claude Giroux

Ok, so hear me out. It would be almost identical to the jersey I was talking about earlier, but take the reverse retro sweater pictured above. Then, flip the colors around. Make the burnt orange parts black, the white parts burnt orange, and the black parts white.

I’d also like to see the Flyers keep the burnt orange numbering.

To me, that would be the perfect sweater. Again, don’t get me wrong. I do like the current black sweaters, but they could easily be better. These hypothetical black sweaters would be light years better.

The Flyers should absolutely bring the black sweaters back. Would you like to see these uniforms return, or would you like to see something else?
