Bravos face MLS team in official match
Thursday evening FC Juarez will make its debut in the 2025 edition of the Leagues Cup when they square off against Charlotte FC at Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Leagues Cup is an official competition sanctioned by CONCACAF in which all the teams from Liga BBVA MX and the top 18 teams from the MLS face each other. The competition has been highly criticized by fans and media both in the United States and Mexico since its inception three years ago.
This will be the first ever meeting between both of these teams.
FC Juarez goes into this match against the MLS side coming off of a 1-1 draw in Tijuana against Xolos last Friday. The Bravos returned to the Borderland over the weekend, trained at the El Paso Locomotive training facilities on Monday and Tuesday before departing for Charlotte on Tuesday afternoon on a charter flight. FC Juarez had a final training session Wednesday for the purpose of getting to know the playing surface.
On Wednesday evening Bravos head coach and technical director Martin Varini and team captain, goalkeeper, Sebastian Jurado spoke to the media. Varini spoke about the wonderful opportunity it is for FC Juarez to participate in this competition and how they will face the challenge with great humility in order to continue to learn and grow. The Uruguayan head coach also spoke well of the MLS, calling it a league that is “super competitive” and one that he knows well.
Meanwhile, Jurado emphasized the importance of the team as a whole and if the team is going to succeed in this competition it will be because of the effort put forth by all and not the stand out effort of a few.
As for Charlotte FC they come into this Leagues cup competition in seventh place in the eastern conference with 38 points on the season after 25 matches as a result of 12 wins, 11 loses and 2 draws.
The match is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. MST kickoff and will be televised on Apple TV as part of the MLS season package.
Bravas look to continue to obtain points
On Wednesday, FC Juarez Bravas traveled to Guadalajara for their upcoming match against Chivas de Guadalajara on Thursday night.
The Bravas led by head coach and technical director Oscar Fernández come into this third match of the season after playing two games at home, in which they played to a 1-1 draw in their season opener against Atlas and beat Puebla 2-0.
Meanwhile, Chivas comes into this match with two victories defeating Atlético de San Luis and Querétaro on the road by a score of 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.
For this match, Bravas can once again count on several key players who had been absent in the first two matches of the season. Julitha Singano and Enekia Lunyamila could get their first minutes in the tournament after playing in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, while Liliana Mercado and Miah Zuazua have recovered from their injuries so they could see action in this match. On the other hand, the team from the Borderland will not be able to count on star forward Jasmine Casarez, who will serve her one match suspension after being sent off with a red card against Puebla. Grace Asantewaa and Malado Diallo will also not be available for this game as they continue to get adapted to the squad, also returning from international duties.
The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. MST and will be broadcast nationally in the United States on Fox Deportes.
