Welcome to the first Philly Hockey Now Daily of August!
It’ll be a quick one, but one nonetheless. For my baseball fans, how are we feeling about the Phillies’ trade deadline moves? I won’t lie, I was ecstatic about Duran, but was somewhat disappointed that Bader was the only outfielder acquired. However, that disappointment only really lasted until the deadline passed and no really big-name outfielders were dealt.
So, in conclusion, Dave crushed the deadline by getting a true closer, one of the top outfielders traded, and avoided dealing Andrew Painter, Justin Crawford, and Aidan Miller. Now it has to only be a matter of time until Painter and Crawford join the big club, right?
Anyway, back to hockey.
Recent news about new sweaters across the league led to conversation about the Flyers jerseys. An enemy of Philly, Sidney Crosby, seems to be having a great summer. Get that, and more on the first Philly Hockey Now Daily of August!
Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: How do you feel about the Flyers’ current uniform setup? Well, recent rumors around the league show some teams getting an updated alternate sweater. Is it time for the Flyers to get an upgrade? What jersey would you like to see returned?
Flyers Social Media: Are the bullies back? Flyers’ defensive prospect Oliver Bonk trained with bare-knuckle fighter Johnny Garbarino at the Flyers Training Center. Bonk is looking to bring toughness and physicality back to Broad Street.
National Hockey Now
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Sidney Crosby. Nathan MacKinnon. Brad Marchand. No matter how you may feel about each, that sounds like a helluva party. Well, Marchand’s Stanley Cup party might just be part of the Crosby Summer. The Pens legend was also seen training with some young Sharks.
Boston Hockey Now: No C for the Bs? After trading their captain, Brad Marchand, at the 2025 trade deadline, it seems as if the Bruins are going with the no-captain look for the coming season.
New Jersey Hockey Now: So, we have all talked about which Flyers jerseys should return, but what about a division rival? James Nichols over at New Jersey Hockey Now ran a fan survey on which jerseys Devils fans would like to see returned. My opinion: the red and green Christmas tree uniforms.
