MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Hockley players at the Berry Events Center looked a little smaller than usual this week.
NMU hosted its annual Hockey Camp. Kids from 6 to 12 years old met with NMU hockey coaches and players to improve their skills. They received two hours of on-ice instruction every day, as well as various off-ice activities.
Instructors say the kids had a lot of fun on the ice, but they also learned a lot about the game.
“The U.P.’s got a long tradition of a lot of great hockey players coming out of this community,” said NMU Assistant Hockey Coach and NMU Hockey Camp Director Ben Russell. “We’d like to continue that in the future, and I think this camp is a great step in that direction.”
The kids finished the week on Friday with a full game against each other. The final score was a 5-5 tie.
