SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Officials with the Utah Hockey Club have slightly altered the last three name options to vote for for the team’s final name.
In a post on X, officials with the team said feedback on Wednesday’s poll for what the team’s official name should be showed “Utah Wasatch” to be unpopular, so they’ve switched that out for the Utah Outlaws.
Fans can vote on the team name options Utah Mammoth, Utah Hockey Club and Utah Outlaws at the home hockey games Friday, Sunday and Tuesday (Jan. 31, Feb. 2 and Feb. 4).
A fan favorite name was the Utah Yeti; however, the US Patent Office rejected Yeti due to other products using the branding.
Because this next round of voting features logos and branding treatments in addition to names, only fans who attend any of the next four home games will have the opportunity to participate.
Smith Entertainment Group, who owns Utah Hockey Club, said they are on track to announce the team’s permanent name before the 2025-26 season starts.
