LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings signed winger Alex Laferriere for an extension of three years, and $4.1 million AAV through the 2027-28 season.
Last year, Laferriere played in 77 games and snagged season highs in goals (19), assists (23), points (42), plus/minus (+22), game winning goals (4), shots (193), hits (124), blocked shots (42) and time-on-ice per game (16:32).
This past year in Los Angeles, he was tied for the second-highest offensive plus-minus rating with winger Adrian Kempe. Typically lined up with center Quinton Byfield and fellow winger Kevin Fiala, the three quickly marked themselves as a strong offensive force, especially for what is typically the Kings’ third line. With Byfield and Fiala both signed through the 2027-28 season, the Kings can look toward that line for offensive output for a few more years to come.
Laferriere played one previous season with Los Angeles, where he played in 81 games and garnered 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists). His -14 rating was not ideal, and he also had 46 PIM to his name as well. The 23-year-old certainly worked hard in the offseason, becoming a strong piece of the Kings’ offense this past year.
Drafted by the Kings in the third round at 83rd overall in the 2020 draft, Laferriere played with Harvard for two years, with 73 points in his 69 games with the Crimson. He was also honored with the ECAC Rookie of the Year award after his 14-goal, 17-assist season, which led to the ECAC tournament championship.
With the extension, the Kings’ offense will have more stability this upcoming season and in the future as well.
