WILDWOOD, New Jersey (WPVI) — This weekend, the ‘Sticks in the Sand’ beach hockey heated up competition in Wildwood.
It is one of several activities hosted by Morey’s Piers Beach Sports throughout the summer.
This tournament was run by the Red Knots Field Hockey Club (FHC), which is primarily based in Cape May and Atlantic Counties.
Teams from across New Jersey and beyond came to participate. This included other club teams and even just groups of friends.
It gave athletes a chance to play their favorite sport on the beach, relive a cherished pastime, or for one athlete, bounce back from an injury.
Watch the video above to hear some of the stories behind why they play.
‘Sticks in the Sand’ is expected to return to the beach next year. For more information on Morey’s Piers Beach Sports or Red Knots FHC, visit their websites.
