A new recruiting window has opened, and the Michigan State hockey program is already on the board. With Aug. 1 coming, the 2009 recruiting class in college hockey is permitted to make contact with colleges, thus college decisions being made.
Gavin Burcar was quick to make his decision, committing to Michigan State. A 6-foot-1, 165 pound right shot forward, Burcar has been a standout in his youth career, highlighted by his time with the Anaheim Jr. Ducks AAA and Chicago Mission AAA programs.
Now, in 2025-26, he has signed on to play with the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL, which is a part of the CHL. He is tentatively expected to join Michigan State in 2027-28.
A native of Villa Park, California, Puck Preps has him ranked as a 4.5-star recruit.
