Welcome back to the PhHN Daily! No, I haven’t dicthed the concept of “Flyers morning notes,” but I wanted to share some more stuff from around the league today.
On the August 6th edition of the PhHN Daily, we talk about the latest Flyers news, including expectations set on a young player, and which prospects could be heading to the 2026 World Juniors.
Around the league, there was a close call for one NHL mascot involving a stream and a bear. We also get an inside look at the experience of an NHL beat from a writer, as well as what it is like to scout a future Hall of Famer, and more!
Get it all on the PhHN Daily!
Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: After an impressive collegiate career, it seems like Alex Bump is finally NHL-bound. The Flyers prospect has signed his ELC, joining the organization, and is now set to make his NHL debut. If he does make the NHL roster, what are the expectations for Bump?
The Athletic ($): Scott Wheeler, Corey Pronman, and Max Bultman came together to take a stab at projecting the lineups for each of Canada, USA, Sweden, and Finland for the 2026 World Juniors. The Flyers have given their prospect core a big boost. Based on these projections, they are expected to send six prospects. Canada is obvious with Porter Martone and Jett Luchanko, but check out the other four prospects The Athletic projects to go to the 2026 WJC.

Sportsnaut: The Seattle Kraken were doing a promo video in an Alaskan stream featuring their mascot, Bouy, and forward John Hayden. Before they knew it, the bear charged the Kraken mascot, making it a close call.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Ever wondered what life is like as an NHL beat reporter? Well, a Pittsburgh Hockey Now reader asked, and Dan Kingerski answered. He shared what his experience has been like on the Pittsburgh Penguins beat. It’s a pretty cool read, so check it out!
Detroit Hockey Now: It’s not every day that you scout a future Hall of Famer. A former Detroit Red Wings scout shares his experience scouting Nicklas Lindstrom.
Florida Hockey Now: For my video game people: the cover athlete for NHL 26 has finally been revealed. No, it’s not Macklin Celebrini or Lane Hutson like many people thought. Instead, it’s Matthew Tkachuk, continuing the Panthers’ celebration of their Stanley Cup Championship. What do you think of this year’s cover athlete?
