Flat Rock’s Ty Bergeron scored a goal on a shorthanded breakaway for Team USA in a 4-1 victory over Switzerland at the Under-17 Four Nations Tournament on Wednesday at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth.

Bergeron is a 6-2, 185-pound forward who had 46 goals and 61 assists for 107 points in 69 games with the Honeybaked U15 team last year.

Also on the U.S. team is Honeybaked’s Anthony Valenti, a 5-8, 150-pound defenseman who had 16 goals and 78 assists for 94 points last year.

The U.S. clinched a spot in Saturday’s championship final against Czechia at 4:30 p.m. Team USA will also face Czechia on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Slovakia will face Switzerland on Friday at 1 p.m.

Ovechkin partners with Russian technology company

Alex Ovechkin has partnered with a Russian technology company to produce a movie, series or documentary about his NHL career.

Yandex and its streaming platform, Kinopoisk, announced the agreement Tuesday.

Ovechkin this past spring broke Wayne Gretzky’s career goals record and has scored 897 going into the final season of his contract with the Washington Capitals. Ovechkin, who turns 40 next month, has along with his representatives granted the rights to adapt his career to Yandex’s production label, Plus Studio.

The Moscow native who began his professional career in the Russian league, now the KHL, is expected to take part in commercials and serve as a Yandex ambassador as part of the deal.

Ovechkin has played his entire career with Washington since the Capitals drafted him with the first pick in 2004 and he debuted in 2005. He has been the face of the franchise since, served as their captain since January 2010 and was playoff MVP in 2018 when he led them to their first Stanley Cup championship.

Ducks prospect McQueen heads to Providence

Anaheim Ducks forward prospect Roger McQueen has committed to Providence College for the 2025-25 season. 

McQueen played 17 games with the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings last season, scoring 10 goals with 10 assists before being taken 10th overall by the Ducks in June’s draft. 

The 18-year-old is the latest top prospect to make the jump from the CHL to the NCAA, joining the likes of Gavin McKenna (Penn State), Porter Martone (Michigan State), and Malcolm Spence (Michigan).

In 127 career WHL games, the 6-foot-5, 197 pound forward had 35 goals and 86 points. 

Goalie Khudobin officially calls it a career

Anton Khudobin, a goaltender who made stops with six different teams during a 14-year NHL career, announced his retirement from the NHL.

Khudobin spent time with the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks and finished with a 2.52 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 260 NHL games.

His most notable years came with the Stars, from 2018-22, where he made 102 starts, compiled a 47-40-17 record and led the team to the Stanley Cup Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020.
