The Panthers retained their core group of players this offseason, something that not many around the league believe the front office could do. But Florida is in the business of winning titles, and this group isn’t done just yet.
However, due to some financial issues, the Panthers may be forced to cut some salaries before the season starts. Some have speculated that it could see the team move on from veteran forward Evan Rodrigues.
However, those trade rumors may have been a little overblown. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the latest on any trade of Rodrigues and completely shut the idea down.

With this new reporting, all the rumors around Rodrigues can likely be put to bed. But the Panthers still do need to get under the cap, so some type of move may need to be made.
Rodrigues has been one of the key contributors to this Florida team, and as they go after a three-peat, he could serve them well. Last season, Rodrigues posted 15 goals and 17 assists over 82 regular-season games played.
In the postseason, Rodrigues scored two goals and put up 13 assists over 21 games. His value to this team is immense, and it seems that the Panthers aren’t willing to give up on this core just yet.
