Detroit — Hockey is returning soon, and another sure sign of it was Thursday’s announcement the Red Wings will begin training camp in Traverse City on Thursday, Sept. 18.

The Wings hold their first practice that morning, and will continue workouts through Saturday, Sept. 20, with players, prospects and tryouts divided into three teams that will practice and scrimmage daily.

The camp will end differently this season, with the Wings heading to Grand Rapids — home of the Wings’ minor league affiliate Griffins — for the annual Red and White Game, which will take place Sept. 21 at Van Andel Arena at 3 p.m.

The Wings will break camp after the intra-squad scrimmage and begin their preseason schedule Sept. 23 at Little Caesars Arena against the Chicago Blackhawks.

A full camp roster and the complete training camp schedule will be announced at a later date.

Advance tickets for all Wings training camp sessions in Traverse City will be available online starting Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.
