With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Corey Perry!
Corey Perry
Birthdate: May 16, 1985
Birthplace: New Liskeard, Ontario
Height: 6’3
Weight: 207 lbs
Position: Right/left wing
Shoots: Right
Draft: 1st round, 28th overall, 2003 NHL Entry Draft
2024-25 season
Corey Perry may not be the 30-goal scorer he once was, but the older version of himself is still an effective player. Wrapping up his 20th season, the former Anaheim Duck recorded 19 goals, 11 assists, 30 points, four power-play goals, 61 penalty minutes, and 11:56 of ice time for the Edmonton Oilers.
The playoffs are where he proved he can still be valuable for a team. In 22 games, the winger recorded 10 goals and four assists for 14 points while averaging 15:16 of ice time. Unfortunately for Perry, the Oilers would fall to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight year, giving him his fifth Stanley Cup Final loss in the last six years.

2025-26 outlook
After being public enemy number one to Kings fans for the past two decades — especially during his time with the Ducks — he will now don a Kings jersey. It will be an awkward sight, but looking past that, Perry can be a valuable contributor to the fourth line for Jim Hiller. Hiller didn’t trust his fourth line in the playoffs, but he shouldn’t have a problem this year with the new acquisitions, like Perry, that Ken Holland brought in to bring more stability to that line.

At 40 years old, Perry is still a pest, can play in front of the net, and bring a veteran presence as well as fourth-line production. In addition to his fourth-line duties, I can see him playing a role in front of the net on the second power-play unit.
