Since its release, NHL EDGE has given the San Jose Sharks fans a way to access player tracking data publicly.

Now, EA Sports and the NHL are partnering to help bring the player tracking technology to NHL 26. In a release on Monday, EA and the NHL explained how “ICE Q 2.0 powered by NHL EDGE ensures the in-game action mirrors the intensity and individuality of the NHL’s best.”

“The energy from the NHL is electric, with its diehard fans and the talent and physicality of the athletes. It’s our job to translate that energy from the ice to the screen and make it as realistic as possible,” said Cam Weber, President, EA SPORTS. “By harnessing the very same data points the NHL uses to inform all sorts of game-time strategies, EA SPORTS is doubling down on innovations and partnerships to make the most true-to-life reflection of hockey possible.”

For the Sharks, their star player is Macklin Celebrini. Celebrini was rated an 82 overall for NHL 25.

“I think it’s just cool to be in the game,” the No. 1 pick by the San Jose Sharks in the 2024 NHL Draft said. “Playing with my buddies growing up, you always play as your favorite players. Now, to be in the game, it is pretty cool to have kids have the same experience.”

After the Sharks star had 63 points (25 goals, 38 assists) in 70 games, earning NHL All-Rookie Team honors, Celebrini should get a sizeable ratings boost.

What NHL Edge Stats will give the Sharks star a boost?

With easy access to NHL EDGE, San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini was in the upper percentiles for many categories.

After a quick skim through all his NHL EDGE stats, Celebrini’s shooting accuracy, endurance, and skating speed bursts stick out.

The Sharks center had six speed bursts of 22+ MPH, ranking in the 80th percentile. He ranked in the 98th percentile of 18-20 MPH speed bursts with 755. Celebrini also ranked in the 91st percentile of 20-22 MPH speed bursts with 162.

His shot is insanely accurate. Despite not having the best shooting percentage for goals, getting the puck on net wasn’t an issue. Celebrini finished his rookie Sharks season with 236 shots on goal, ranking in the 96th percentile per NHL EDGE.

Celebrini should see a significant boost to his shooting accuracy rating and acceleration stats in NHL 26. That will complement his endurance well, which should also see a considerable bump.

Celebrini ranked in the 99th percentile of skating distance (mi) in a single period in 24-25 with 1.87. He was in the 98th percentile for his most skating distance in a game with 4.37.

Per 60 minutes, Celebrini averaged 10.05 miles, which ranks in the 84th percentile.

After hearing the story of Sharks goalie prospect Josh Ravensbergen losing eight pounds in one summer skate with Celebrini, there shouldn’t be any questions about the 19-year-old’s conditioning.

Just finished speaking with #SJSharks Josh Ravensbergen. The Vancouver native has skated with Macklin Celebrini, Carson Westch, and Luca Cagnoni. Says the skates have been crazy, and Celebrini is constantly working. Told a story saying he lost eight pounds after the first skate…— Max Miller (@Real_Max_Miller) June 28, 2025

NHL 26 will release on September 12, 2025, on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will receive up to seven days of early access and a host of in-game items and rewards.
