Anthony Stolarz was injured during Game 1 against Florida after taking an elbow from Sam Bennett, but the Maple Leafs have since shared an optimistic update on the health of the veteran netminder.

The Toronto Maple Leafs won the battle on Monday night, securing a 1-0 series lead over the Florida Panthers. But, with an injury to Anthony Stolarz, the jury is out on whether or not the Leafs can win the war against Florida in Round 2.

Sam Bennett is once again public enemy number one in Toronto after an errant elbow clipped Stolarz during a power play net drive, resulting in the veteran goaltender being removed from the game and taking a trip to the hospital for evaluation. He since been released from the hospital, according to Pierre LeBrun. There wasn’t much news available on Stolarz on Monday evening, but on Tuesday, Brandon Carlo revealed that he briefly spoke with a smiling Stolarz at breakfast.

In addition, Leafs bench boss Craig Berube told the Toronto media that Stolarz is doing well and that he has not yet been ruled out to dress for Game 2, surprisingly.

Stolarz won a Stanley Cup with the Panthers last season, and is close with Bennett, his friend and former teammate. Bennett spoke with the media on Tuesday as well in an attempt to establish that there was no intent to injure on the play, revealing that he had personally spoken with Stolarz to check on him as well.

If Stolarz does play on Tuesday, that will be quite the turn of events, and maybe even a little ill-advised, given the fact that he was hospitalized less than 24 hours ago.
