Welcome back to another edition of Flyers morning notes.

The last one I wrote was an enjoyable format, and I liked touching on a few different Flyers-specific topics at once. With multiple Flyers-related topics today and not as much league-wide stuff, I thought today was a good day to give it another go.

It’s still in the middle of August, so it was not the craziest news day or days. Though things are still happening.

We got an update on the health of a Flyers’ rising star. A new era in South Philadelphia has officially begun, and much more.

Check it out on the 8/15 edition of Flyers morning notes.

Tyson Foerster Expected to be Good to Go for Start of Flyers Season

Flyers fans can give a big sigh of relief.

According to Bill Meltzer, who heard from Flyers’ general manager Danny Briere himself, Tyson Foerster is expected to be good to go for the start of the upcoming season.

On July 1st, it was reported that Foerster could miss some time in the early season after a surgery to deal with an infection from an elbow injury suffered at men’s Worlds.

It was a lot of hypotheticals, and not as much certainty. There were questions as to whether or not the whole infection was taken care of.

Now, with Meltzer’s recent report, a big sigh of relief can be made. It looks like it’s going to be ok.

Officially Xfinity Mobile Arena

The Wells Fargo Center is no longer, and we are officially in the Xfinity Mobile Arena era in South Philly.

The Flyers ownership group, Comcast Spectator, announced in May that the name of the arena would be changing.

They had already begun tearing down the Wells Fargo Center signage around the arena before the switch was officially made, and new “Xfinity Mobile Arena” signage should be completed soon.

This is going to take some getting used to.

If you had the number one pick, would you take Gavin McKenna or Keaton Verhoeff? Well, the Flyers likely won’t have the chance to pick between the two, but if they do, could either complete the rebuild?

On a side note, would anyone be interested in a handful of prospects to get to know now, who could be in play next June?

The Ryan Johansen saga is officially over. After filing a grievance following the Flyers’ termination of his contract, an arbitrator ruled against the veteran.

A lot is going on with the Flyers this season. Don’t let that distract you from one key star: Travis Konecny. With steady improvement in each recent year, don’t expect him to be done, and look out for another big year from the team’s star.

Do the Flyers have enough on defense to make a run? Or, are they destined for another year at the bottom? Let’s take a look at what they have at the blueline.
